Position based in Jakarta

An NGO-managed education project operating in seven provinces in Indonesia seeks qualified candidates for Professional Development Advisor position to work with partner institutions to improve existing professional teacher development programs and to facilitate the adaptation and diffusion of the DBE 2 model in additional clusters and districts in the six targeted provinces.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee professional teacher development activities and monitor training programs at the provincial level. Consolidate and manage training activities and materials for programs participants. Strengthen in -school/classroom support and mentoring mechanism across six provinces of Indonesia

  • Provide technical assistance and prepare training materials for university accreditation and ensure transferability for teacher training and development activities packages and materials. Ensure outreach and possible collaboration with other donor-founded and government-sponsored teacher development and support initiatives

  • Oversee implementation of specialized programs, including libraries, in-school mentoring, and reading programs.

Required Qualifications:

  • Posses a university Masters degree in one of the following fields: Education, Teacher Education, International Development, International Education or other job-related field. Doctorate preferred.

  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience required, including teaching in primary schools and involvement in teacher development programs (both in-service and pre-service), in developing countries. Understanding issues concerning teacher development programs.

  • Successful experience in program management of USAID – or other donor-funded projects including providing technical assistance to ministries of education and national institution.

  • Prior knowledge of Indonesian education system, cultures, and central and provincial government structures (preferred)


  • Fluent in English required; some knowledge of Bahasa Indonesia preferred

  • Excellent cross-cultural understanding and sensitivity, including the ability to mentor national staff and collaborate with representatives of partner institutions. Ability to work effectively with host country staff and institutions

  • Excellent leadership, planning, organizational and management skills Excellent networking, communication and presentation skills. Ability to respond to changing situations in a flexible manner, including the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines. Ability to monitor, analyze and report on status of project activities
